This is the Boss 302 Mustang that we started with. A one owner yellow Boss 302. Boss 302 restoration is what we specialize in. We are restored this Boss 302 last year. These are a few photos of what we had to start with. Although a one owner car, this car needed quite a bit of attention. The positive thing about this Boss 302 was that it retained nearly all of it's original parts.
This Boss 302 restoration started with normall proceedure which is to remove the interior and the parts from the engine bay. We then completed what minor body work that needed to be done on this Boss 302. This car was very cherry. The metal was all very good and did not need much attention. So after body work we primed and blocked the car. We then sealed the car with a basically white sealer so that the yellow base coat would cover very well. Below are a few photos of what the Boss 302 looked like in the sealer.
After sealing this Boss 302 we sprayed the base and clear coats. This car was an original "D" code bright yellow car car. We wanted to keep this boss 302 to factory specifications so we re-shot it in the same yellow. Below are a few of the pictures taken right after the clear was applied.
The following pictures show how the overspray landed on the undercarriage of the car. This was common during factory painting procedure. They didn't tape the floors off to paint the car so whatever was floating around when the car was originally shot is what ended up on the undercarriage. We paint our Boss 302's and other Mustangs at a certain height off the floor to try to replicate this overspray as close as possible to factory conditions.
